Maria Teresa Mascarello: Bartolo Mascarello

Maria Teresa Mascarello: Bartolo Mascarello

Maria Teresa Mascarello embodies the fourth generation of Domaine Mascarello, having taken up the torch in the early 1990s following her father, the famous winemaker Bartolo Mascarello. The family history rooted in Barolo in the heart of Piemonte, is that of a pioneering family, which already bottled part of its wine as early as in 1919. Just like her father, she is a staunch defender of tradition, and maintains an iron grip on quality. The cantina only makes one Barolo, a cross-site blend, which she insists is the best way to make Barolo. Maria Teresa’s winemaking responsibilities began in 1998 and nurtured by her legendary father Bartolo, she committed herself to protecting the land, safeguarding the values and the legacy transmitted to her by her family.
Under Bartolo’s tutelage hers was an “on the job training”, assimilating the precious and practical knowledge about the land, the vineyards and the wine.
