The spirit of Jacques Reynaud, the godfather of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, is always present. When the legendary founder of Château Rayas suddenly passed away, his nephew, the late Emmanuel Reynaud, who had already been making wines at his father's Château des Tours, took the reins at both Château Rayas and Château de Fonsalette.
The late Emmanuel was somewhat reclusive and did not revel in the fame and notoriety that comes with making such sought-after and acclaimed wines. Still, he continued to carry the mantle of his famous forebears, producing hauntingly aromatic wines at his three estates: Château Rayas, Château des Tours, and Château de Fonsalette.

Vega Sicilia is arguably the most prestigious winery in Spain. Few wineries have a history as distinguished as that of Vega Sicilia. Founded in the 1860's, its top cuvée, Unico, was Spain's first great wine and until recent decades the only Spanish wine collected and coveted throughout the world. After being aquired by the Álvaraz family in 1982, more wineries would join under the group now known as Tempos Vega Sicilia. These wineries include Bodegas y Viñedos Alión, and Bodegas Pintia, as well as the collaboration with Benjamin and Ariane de Rothschild, known as Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia.
